Here's Journal Club 10/23/20! Every week, I hold a JOURNAL CLUB. After filtering through the articles on the web, I present a few that impacted my life this week. Be safe and stay well!
- Have you stopped to think about what you’ll do when you reach financial independence? In this article from Retire Before Dad, the author states that while it’s important to be financially free, it’s just as important to feel fulfilled in your post-retirement life. Using science and anecdotes, he shares how he’s been able to do just that–and how beneficial it truly is.
- If you’ve considered investing in real estate at some point, you’ve likely wondered whether it’s better to invest in a single-family home or an apartment building. While both have their advantages, in this article, Debt Free Doctor makes a compelling case that apartment buildings may be better for doctors and even for investing in general.
- I love conferences. There’s just something about meeting with and learning from like-minded people that gets me excited and motivated to do more. Of course, there are a ton of events out there; it’s just a matter of finding them. This article from Get Rich Slowly provides a comprehensive list of conferences and events for personal finance and beyond, and it’s well worth your time.
- The “latte factor” is the idea that if you cut back on spending in some area of your life (like your daily latte), you can redirect that money to investing or saving. In this article from Four Pillar Freedom, the author states that sometimes, this line of thinking is backward–cutting expenses may be the opposite of what will bring wealth.
That’s it for this week! I hope Journal Club 10/23/20 was helpful to you.
Lastly, here's a little bit of motivation below. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
