Every other week, I hold a JOURNAL CLUB. After manually filtering through the millions of articles out there on the web, I present a few that impacted my life this month.
Here’s our Journal Club for the week, enjoy!
- There's a reason you should retire early and it has to do with more than a lifestyle change. We're talking taxes here, specifically the worker tax penalty. White Coat Investor sheds light on what this means for the physician employee.
- Being admittedly lazy seems to be a personal jab at our choice of profession. But, on our off times, who's to say we can't indulge in a little laissez-faire time? The good thing is, though, this laziness can be turned around to our advantage says Financially Alert.
- Channeling your inner freshman… you remember the times of parties and the lack of attention to responsibilities, right? It's quite reasonable to think that while we were once of the mindset that our lives had tremendous potential (and still does), we grew up. Same goes with how we view money says Dr. Cory S. Fawcett.
- Who's all for a partial rebrand of the FIRE acronym? Dr. McFrugal is and he reasons it would be more reflective of the reality of the average desire to achieve financial freedom. He also reasons that most physicians don't like the existing -RE part anyway, so why not?
- When in real estate, you never know how things are going to go until papers are signed and hands are shaken. So, while in the due diligence period, what if you decided against purchasing a property? Semi-Retired MD walks us through a recent experience.
- We wouldn't be hearing about burnout if we weren't the most susceptible to it. So, what should we do is focus on the things that truly make us happy… family, friends, and building a healthy tribe. Pivot Points MD, Dr. Bill Yount, shares what he means.
- Happiness and money at some point intersect. Where they do is decidedly up to us says this new podcast duo. The Physician Philosopher and Ryan Inman of the Financial Residency Podcast use recent studies and personal experience to share how money can provoke feelings that are both good and bad.
A little bit of motivation below. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
