Here's Journal Club 2/4/22! Every week, I hold a JOURNAL CLUB. After filtering through the articles on the web, I present a few that impacted my life this week. Be safe and stay well!
- If you think financial independence is all about earning as much as you can and saving as much of it as you can in order to retire early, then it's time to shift that mindset. This may have been the case ten years ago, but today more and more people are choosing to retire on their own terms. The Physician on Fire highlights one such story in the article – Working Toward FIRE Made Her Miserable, So She Changed Course.
- Whether you're a seasoned real estate investor or an aspiring one, it's essential to set specific goals in real estate investing and have a system in place to achieve them. For that reason, the author of the Good Egg Investments discusses the steps involved in setting big goals and how to get there in the article – How To Set 2022 Goals For A Strong Year Of Real Estate Investing?
- As humans, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. When faced with our weaknesses, some of us might choose to avoid them, while others might decide to confront them. Both options have their pros and cons. The author of Get Rich Slowly faced a similar situation recently where he chose to respond in a manner he wouldn't normally opt for. However, doing so yielded surprising results, and the author shares his victory in the article – A lesson in speaking up for yourself: I saved $575 for a moment of discomfort.
- According to the author of Financial Samurai, if you're aiming for financial independence, simply contributing to a 401k and Roth IRA isn't sufficient. It's crucial to invest in taxable brokerage accounts as well. To help you figure out the right investment vehicle, the author shares a valuable resource in the article – The Right Contribution Order Between Your Investment Accounts.
That's all for this week! I hope this week's journal club was helpful.
