Every week, I hold a JOURNAL CLUB. After manually filtering through the millions of articles out there on the web, I present a few that impacted my life this week, so you don't have to. Here’s Journal Club 4-17-20. Be safe and stay well!
- We are living in uncertain times. In times like these, we need to be sure that we don't create more uncertainty for ourselves than is necessary. There are still aspects of our lives we still have control over, and even if our investments and our financial situation isn't where we'd like for it to be, we still have the ability to know what's happening in our financial portfolios. Take it from Physician on FIRE. He explains the danger of not checking your portfolio.
- In times like these, it’s important to use our platforms to help keep one another informed, especially if it’s information that can keep ourselves and others safe and healthy. Anjali Jariwala's husband, who is also a physician and on the front lines, wrote about his thinking on how to reduce the risk of bringing the novel coronavirus home. Here are some useful tips on how to keep yourself and your loved ones – including your young children – safe and free from the virus that's caused a global pandemic. Read about the precautions that Udai Jayakumar is taking against COVID-19 on the FIT Advisors blog.
- The unprecedented run in the bull market finally came to a halt with all of the COVID-19 madness. The ensuing bear market has consumed its fair share of victims. People are wondering if they should be “stockpiling for the end of the world” and whether they should move to cash until it “hits the bottom.” If you are concerned about the Bear market, this Money Meets Medicine podcast episode is for you. Don’t get eaten by the Big Hungry Bear!
- We are living in strange times, and pandemic uncertainty is certainly affecting the financial world right now. The Hippocratic Hustle Podcast speaks on the economics of COVID-19. I've already shared part one and part two of the series. Check out part three for the end of the series, including topics such as assistance for small businesses, what you can get with your FSA, and more.
I hope Journal Club 4-17-20 was helpful to you.
