Here's Journal Club 09-30-22! Every week, I hold a JOURNAL CLUB. After filtering through the articles on the web, I present a few that impacted my life this week. Be safe and stay well!

  • Are you wondering if you should open a 529 account to fund your child’s K-12 education? Or debating whether a Roth IRA or 403(b) would be a better fit for you? Well, The White Coat Investor addresses these questions and more around investing in – 529s, I Bonds, TIPS, S Corps, ETFs, and 403(b)s. Check it out. There’s a little something for everyone in there.

  • As doctors, starting a side gig may be the last thing you wish to hear that further takes up your time. But the goal behind having side gigs is to set up additional streams of income to eventually win back some of your time. Initially, these may require your time and effort, but they have the potential to create passive income in the long run. The Prudent Plastic Surgeon has similar views and shares helpful tips to explore the possibilities in the article – Physician Side Gigs to Make You Passive Money.

  • Many of us wish to retire early so we can spend the rest of our days doing what we enjoy the most. But as The Physician Philosopher points out, there’s one small problem with retiring early; we can’t access any of the money we have put aside in the retirement accounts before we reach the retirement age of 59.5 years. At least not penalty-free in most cases. So, how do you bridge the gap? The author shares beneficial tips in the article – 6.5 Ways to Overcome The Early Retirement Gap to Age 59.5.

  • If you wish to pursue real estate investing, there are a handful of performance metrics you need to familiarize yourself with to thoroughly evaluate any property. So, how do you determine if you’re making money on a deal? The Debt-Free Doctor explains an essential metric for analyzing profitability in the article – Cash On Cash Return Formula: Are You Making Money In Real Estate?

That's all for this week! I hope this week's journal club was helpful.
