Here's Journal Club 6/11/21! Every week, I hold a JOURNAL CLUB. After filtering through the articles on the web, I present a few that impacted my life this week. Be safe and stay well!
What does freedom look like for you? Is it the ability to travel more, the joy of being debt-free, or something else? Many people have shared that creating and sticking to a budget helped them reach financial freedom (and for some, even retire early). But what if your budgeting behaviors are what’s stealing your financial freedom? Love, Success, and Socks published an article sharing the top budgeting myths that can steal your financial freedom in this article, I highly suggest giving it a read.
Speaking of freedom – is FIRE really a dream for you? How many of you have dreamt of something only for the reality of that dream to fall short? Fire and Wide shares, “FIRE is one of the ultimate such dreams for a lot of people. Of a time when all your hard work will be rewarded”. Does FIRE seem like the right dream for you? Check out this post from Fire and Wide and find out.
You may be thinking, “I love my job, I’m not worried about achieving FIRE”. Some people think that if they love their job, have great benefits, and an awesome boss then they have no reason to want to achieve financial independence and retire early. The Darwinian Doctor disagrees and stresses to their audience that “nothing lasts forever”. So if you’re one of those people who don't feel the need to pursue FIRE because you love your job, you definitely need to read this post.
The journey to FIRE doesn’t mean missing out on enjoying life. Many people think that in order to achieve FIRE you have to spend less and live less. Prudent Plastic Surgeon believes that YOLO (you only live once) and FIRE are both very important philosophies. So if you’re struggling to find the perfect intersection for you between these two philosophies (or are in search of how to enjoy the two simultaneously), then this article is for you.
That’s it for this week! I hope Journal Club 6/11/21 was helpful to you.
Lastly, here's a little bit of motivation below. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
