Episode Breakdown
Investing Is a Must
Peter starts off by imagining what he’d tell his younger self just starting out. Back then, he thought having a good job and saving money would be enough. But over time, he realized real freedom requires more than hard work—it takes smart investing.
He shares how shifting his mindset from being just a physician to thinking like an investor changed everything. Even using downtime better, like reading or learning instead of watching Netflix, could have made a big difference early on.
Peter says, “Investing isn’t optional if you want freedom. It’s a necessity.” His advice is clear: start now, even if it’s small. Time matters more than you think.
Know Where You Stand
Next, Peter talks about something simple but powerful: knowing your financial numbers. For years, he focused on earning more but didn’t really track what he had or what was left over each month.
He realized that you can’t grow what you don’t measure. Whether it’s your net worth, your savings, or your spending, getting clear on the numbers helps you make better decisions.
As he puts it, “If you don’t know that, how do you know how much you can put away to invest?” This was a big wake-up call for him and might be one for you too.
Start Investing Sooner
Peter admits he waited too long to start investing in real estate. He thought he had time, but real estate rewards those who start early. The sooner you begin, the better the results down the road.
He also shares why chasing the highest returns isn’t always the smartest move. Instead, he learned to focus on cash flow—how much money actually shows up in your account each month.
He says, “Just get started in something. Learn by doing.” That mindset helped him make progress faster, even when things weren’t perfect.
Don’t Do It Alone
Peter remembers feeling alone when he first got interested in investing. He didn’t know who to talk to or where to ask questions. So for a while, he kept everything to himself.
But everything changed when he joined groups of other investors. Learning from others gave him more confidence and helped him avoid mistakes.
“Don’t try to be the hero,” he says. The fastest way to grow is by surrounding yourself with people who’ve already done what you want to do.
You Don’t Need to Be Perfect
Peter wraps up by reminding us that waiting until you’re ready is a trap. You may never feel fully ready. The key is to start now, take action, and learn as you go.
Even mistakes help you grow. The journey won’t be perfect, but it will be yours. That’s what matters most.
Peter says. “You don’t need to know everything to begin… Just get started.” That’s advice worth remembering, no matter where you are in your journey.
