Zoom AI Companion (formerly Zoom IQ) is a powerful generative AI assistant that is now available to all users with paid services in their Zoom user accounts, at no additional cost. The idea is to help users be more productive, communicate seamlessly, and collaborate better in teams. It has awesome features, so keep reading to learn more about it.

To those worrying about privacy issues, Zoom says that they do not use any customer content to train their AI models. This includes:

How Zoom AI Companion Works

First up, you do not need to download anything to use the AI companion. Just make sure to have the latest version of Zoom and you’re set to go.

Zoom updates are usually automatic but If you’re unsure whether you have the latest version, here are the steps to update and install it.

For desktop users

1. Click on your Zoom application
2. Sign in using your email
3. Click on your profile icon at the top right corner
4. Click Check for Update
5. If the pop-up says “Update Available”, click Update
6. After the Update finishes, click Install

For mobile users, you can go to your App Store for IOS and Google Play for Android to update to the latest Zoom.

Once that is done, your AI companion should be immediately present at your Zoom meetings. Look for it in the controls toolbar or Zoom Team Chat Window.

Not knowing about conversations that took place while you were gone is an unpleasant experience. With the new AI, you can get a concise recap of what you’ve missed out in a simple-to-understand summary.

3. Smart Meeting Recordings

Forgot what you need to do after a meeting?

Your meeting recordings can now be automatically divided into chapters so you can review what took place with ease. It can also highlight key details and generate actionable next steps to remind you of everything you need to do.

4. Improved Meeting Summaries 

Did you miss a meeting but need to be in the know?

Meeting summaries through AI Companion can outline who said what, highlight important topics, and provide an overview of the next steps.

You can view meeting summaries in the Home tab, just look for “Meeting Summary with AI Companion” on the left-hand side of your screen.
