Here's Journal Club 10/16/20! Every week, I hold a JOURNAL CLUB. After filtering through the articles on the web, I present a few that impacted my life this week. Be safe and stay well!

  • Should you invest in the stock market or real estate? It’s a very common question, and understandably so–there are convincing arguments from both sides. In this article from Financial Success MD, the author uses his own experience as a case study, letting the results of his own investments over the last few decades speak for themselves.
  • As medical professionals, we wear many hats. We’re doctors, investors, retirement planners, landlords, fathers, mothers… the list goes on. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, now more than ever. Eventually, it takes its toll. The Physician Philosopher understands this very well. In this article, he provides actionable ways you can take some stress off yourself while still getting things done.
  • Are you getting the most out of your rental properties? Well, according to this article from Semi-Retired MD, there are likely a few ways to get more cashflow out of your properties than you might have considered. This goes beyond the simple “raise the rent” strategy or adding more properties. If you already have rental properties, this is well worth a read.
  • In case you haven’t heard of the term “geographic arbitrage,” it’s the idea of relocating to an area with a lower cost of living while keeping your salary at or above its current level. This allows you to very effectively increase your net income. In this article, The Prudent Plastic Surgeon describes his experience moving from Manhattan to Buffalo, how it was the perfect choice for him and his family–and how geographic arbitrage may be right for you.

That’s it for this week! I hope Journal Club 10/16/20 was helpful to you.

Lastly, here's a little bit of motivation below. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
